Certification

PTCB is the industry leader in pharmacy technician certification.  The PTCB certification program is the only one endorsed by the Association of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) and other professional pharmacy organizations.

About PTCB
The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) was established in January 1995 and is governed by five organizations:  the American Pharmacists Assocation, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists; the Ilinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists, the Michigan Pharmacists Association; and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.  Since 1995, PTCB has advocated for a single national standard for pharmacy technician certification that is recognized and supported by the profession.  Establishing a single standard for pharmacy technician certification through PTCB is consistent with the approach used by other health professions, as well as the approach utilized within the pharmacist licensure process.

PTCB Mission Statement
PTCB develops maintains, promotes, and administers a nationally accredited certification and recertification program for pharmacy technicians to enable the most effective support of pharmacists to advance patient safety.

PTCB Certification Excellence
Since 1995, PTCB has certified over 400,000 technicians nationwide and is the only pharmacy technician certification program endorsed by the American Pharmacist Association, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.
