MSHP Outstanding Technician Award

The MSHP Outstanding Technician Award is presented to a pharmacy technician in recognition of outstanding performance or achievement.

• Dedication to improving patient care through participation in educational programs and demonstrates superior product knowledge
• Teamwork within the pharmacy, provides leadership, and serves as a role model for co-workers, and participates in the development of efficient, innovative methods that support the provision of pharmaceutical care
• Consideration of patients first and foremost, acts as their advocate and possesses a helpful, courteous, cheerful demeanor in dealing with patients
• Takes responsibiilty for duties assigned, acts independently where possible, appropirately refers issues and questions to the pharmacists, and completes tasks in a conscientious and accurate manner
• Portrays an enthusiastic, positive image of the profession of pharmacy

2010 Outstanding Technician Award Winner: 
Kevin Berg, MSHP President, presenting award to JoAnne Myhre, CPhT

• As Pharmacy Operations Manager at United Hospital, JoAnne's primary responsiblity is to manage the Pyxis medication distribution system, USP 797 regulations and narcotic control. 
• JoAnne has led the initiative at United Hospital and across the Allina system to require mandatory certification for technicians.
• JoAnne has helped lead numerous initiatives for Allina including:  development of performance metrics for Pyxis products and support, development of system wide procedures for assessing 797 compliance, acting as a project lead and primary contact for upgrading numerous Pyxis applications, and collaboration with other Allina leaders to assess the potential benefit of centralizing the production of certain high volume items at Allina.
• JoAnne teaches a Pharmacy Technician Certification Program at the St. Paul College and serves as a resource and mentor to many technicians.
• JoAnne is currently serving as co-lead for the MSHP Technician Task Force.
• JoAnne has a passion for advancing the role of the pharmacy technicians and is a role model for pharmacy technicians.
