MSHP Outstanding Student Award

The MSHP Outstanding Student Award is presented each Spring to a graduating College of Pharmacy student pursuing their first professional degree, who has demonstrated scholastic excellence and leadership in health-system pharmacy.

2010 Outstanding Student Award Recipient: 
Kevin Berg, MSHP President, presenting award to Delford Doherty, Pharm.D., and Master's of Public Health

 

Del is a fourth year pharmacy student (Pharm.D. and Master's of Public Health) at the University of Minnesota and is a student intern at Abbott Northwestern Hospital.

  • Del truly believes that pharmacists play an important role in delivering essential medication services to those most in need and has put those beliefs into practice throughout his training, establishing research projects with the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy in studying intervention measures for partners of patients with sexually transmitted diseases.
  • He has also taken the opportunity to establish intern and rotation experiences with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Del has remarkably strong convictions and has translated those convictions into positive actions.
  • Del displays the type of passion for the profession that one could only describe as infectious.
