MSHP members practice primarily in hospitals, physician clinics, managed care organizations, and home health and hospice programs.  A small percentage of our members work in outpatient/retail pharmacies located in hospitals.  Because of their practice sites and their frontline role in managing clinical drug therapy, our pharmacist members play a decision-making role in what drug is on formulary, as well as what drug and dose should be used for specific indications at the bedside.  In addition, MSHP pharmacists are actively involved in patient education and disease management for people with chronic conditions, and have a direct, daily working relationship with physicians and nurses.
